Multiplying
You will need a calculator for this activity.
Is this statement 32 x 11 = 352 correct?
Does this strategy work for 32 x 11?
Does it work for 43 x 11?
Choose your own 2 digit number to multiply by 11. Does the strategy work?
Will the strategy work for 325 x 11?

Myra's Ruru
This morning Myra brought in this beautiful Morepork (Ruru) which unfortunately swooped down and flew into her window at home. It really made me think how precious our native birds are. I know that lots of New Zealand's native birds are under threat and many are very close to extinction. I am very proud that at Waipahihi School we trying to bring back the 'bird song'.
It was such a privilege to see the Ruru close up and touch it's delicate feathers. I am left wondering... I wonder how many Ruru are left in New Zealand? I wonder how you tell the difference between a male and a female? Does anyone know the answers to my wonderings....

Have fun at camp!
I know you'll all have a fantastic time! I still remember my camp at Pureora when I was 13 (a looong time ago).
I'm looking forward to seeing the photos and hearing the stories when you get back.

Monday
Hi Room 6
Remember to bring your togs for swimming tomorrow and if you're allowed, bring some flax for weaving. Remember how to take care of the plant when you cut the flax.
I also have a challenge for some of you tomorrow which involves blogging. Who is an expert that can help me? Perhaps the first people to reply will be my helpers.
Mrs Stevens
