Wow Room 6 and Mrs Stevens you guys look like weaving experts! I learnt that when cutting the flax I should cut it on an angle because if I don't the rain water will fill it up and it will rot. I can't wait to see your putiputi made out of flax today. I have a beautiful orange and yellow flax plant... I'm wondering if you could use this to weave or does it have to be the traditional green flax?
Thank you Jodi and Luke for sending flax to class. We enjoyed making putiputi (flowers) with it. The students are preparing movies to put on their blogs to show you how we made them. Watch this space.

Mrs Wills, room 6 think that the coloured flax would be cool to weave!
ReplyDeleteThis was great advice - thanks guys! Luke showed me this morning too, the "parent and Baby" leaves - I'm quite relieved I didn't get it wrong!
